Equipment & Adaptations assessment
Our physiotherapists at Manchester Physio can provide the appropriate equipment, home adaptations and expert advice for individuals who have difficulty with everyday tasks such as climbing the stairs, getting in and out of bed, or the bath, or standing from a chair or toilet.
Our physiotherapists will visit you at home to assess your needs and advise you of practical solutions to help you get around safely. Equipment and adaptations will then be suggested for your home to increase your independence, safety and quality of life.
Common examples of equipment and adaptations to help you with your movement may include:
- Mobility aids such as wheelchairs, walking frames and quad sticks
- Toilet and bath seats
- Hand rails
- Ramps
- Hoists
- Stair lifts
- Sit to stand chairs
Benefits of equipment and adaptations include:
- Increasing independence around your home
- Improving your mobility
- Increasing safety with daily tasks
- Reducing risk of falling
- Improving your quality of life
You will be monitored on a regular basis to see how you are coping with your equipment and to see if it needs to be discontinued or changed at any point during your treatment. The assessment may be carried out with an occupational therapist who can also advise and support you on the right equipment for you.
